A family story
Once upon a time, in the 1600s, in the village of Chanos-Curson in Drôme, a family by the name of Veyrat already lived, according to the family paper archives in our possession, at the current address of Domaine Laurent Veyrat, that is to say at 35, Chemin des Saviaux !

Throughout the centuries, the Veyrat family worked their land to produce different types of crops. From year to year, from generation to generation, the members of our family have been able to pass on their know-how to their descendants, by instilling values such as respect for the land, high standards and quality.

his grand-father
1925
My grandfather, Raoul Veyrat, was born. Unfortunately his father died very early from war wounds. At the age of 11, my grandfather became the breadwinner and had to take over the family property, despite his young age. He courageously continued farming, supported by my grandmother Marthe. Together, they developed the cultivation of fruit trees, producing apricots, peaches and pears.
Their four children Jacqueline, Françoise, Pierre, my father, and Blandine have always taken an active part in the work of the farm during their school summer holidays and have managed to preserve the wonderful unity of the family property.

1952
A decree extended the Crozes Hermitage appellation area to the commune of Chanos-Curson. My grandparents, then, immediately decided to plant vines and started producing white and red wine under the CROZES HERMITAGE appellation !
1979
My father, Pierre Veyrat, joined a GAEC (Agricultural Group for Joint Farming) with my grandfather Raoul. Then, in 1997, he set up an EARL (Limited-liability Agricultural Holding) with my mother Marguerite-Marie.

1999
After obtaining my Bac Pro CGEA (Professional Baccalaureate CGEA), with the option « work of the vine and wine », I was hired by the family EARL (Limited-liability Agricultural Holding) as a farm worker and I held this position for 4 years.
2004
On July 31, 2004, I joined the family EARL with my parents ; at that time the farm consisted of :
– 19 hectares of cereals
– 5 hectares of fruit trees
– 11 hectares of vineyards within the appellation of AOC CROZES HERMITAGE
Once established, I acquired planting rights, with the intention of making my own wine.
The family EARL was then able to plant an additional 3 hectares.
